WHIPBLUE: BLUETOOTH IPS
Currently, the cost of deploying an Ultra Wide Band system is high, and many customers do not need the 10cm to 100cm level of precision that this technology offers. If the project specification requires accuracies of just 2 to 10 meters, the use of Bluetooth LE beacons may be a good enough solution. In particular, our system is designed to display a grid of devices, so that we can give the position based on the resolution of this grid, that is, using geofences instead of exact coordinates. For greater precision, we recommend our product UWB.

When indoor positioning requirements are less demanding, the solution should be cheaper. Our bluetooth beacons are designed to optimize battery life (up to 3 years) with a contained price. We can also use the client's beacons.

What is WHIPSYS? Technical description
Our version of IPS with Bluetooth Low Energy technology is an indoor positioning system compatible with our other systems and using low-cost equipment, both for base stations and beacons / beacons. Due to the lack of signal stability of any Bluetooth transmitter, the accuracy (2 to 10m) is lower than in our UWB product (10cm to 1m), but the hardware has higher availability and a lower price.
To mitigate the instability of the Bluetooth LE radio signal, we used three techniques:
- We take measures for a longer time
- We deploy a higher density of base stations
- We apply robust trilateration algorithms
- We calibrate stations constantly with beacons in known positions
Instead of trying to give a continuous follow-up measurement as in the IWB product, we evaluate the position every 1 or 2 minutes, discard abnormal measurements and calibrate the station at that time. When executing trilateralization, the measures must be within the specification.
For customers who only need to locate non-critical assets in zones or grids of 2 to 10m, this deployment is sufficient: the exact position may not be solvable, but it is possible to locate an asset in a square of the base station grid, or in a geofence .
We always use the MQTT protocol for communication between our base stations and the management system or control panel. In this way, we can integrate various ways of data intake (ultrawideband, bluetooth, cameras, GPS) in a transparent and unified way for the end user.
The deployment of a specific technology or hardware does not leave the client blocked, but can jump from one to the other without the project stopping or having to discard previously chosen components.

Thanks to our multi-vendor integration capability and the deep control we have over the software, we can offer a user experience transparent to the different technologies employed, and blur the transition between outdoor and indoor positioning, so all trips are recorded and managed in a single point.
Our work as a technology integrator allows us to obtain data from other platforms and merge them with Whipsys. We work with partners dedicated to location services for fleets whose systems allow us to jump transparently from GPS units embedded in vehicles to portable IPS units.
Of course, we have web and app viewers integrating both GPS and IPS sources, so that the tracking is in real time, with continuity and from anywhere. These viewers can feed on data from our servers or from the intranet, so that the security is complete, such as your peace of mind.
